Alamy is the world's largest online collection of stock photography. Launched in 2001, the company has expanded rapidly and now has over eight million high quality mainstream and specialist images from thousands of photographers, picture agencies and national collections.
Customers include newspapers, magazines, book publishers, advertising agencies and corporate marketing departments.
Its pioneering approach to selling images is built on two basic principles.
Everyone with pictures to sell should have an outlet for their work.
Customers should be able to find the right image in the shortest possible time.
The key to Alamy's success is -
For the customer a vast, comprehensive and rapidly growing image collection -350,000 images are added each month a fast search engine - its website is one of the fastest and easiest to use in the industry excellent customer service - customers receive fast, efficient and friendly service online and on the phone
For the contributor the lion's share of each sale - Alamy pays generous royalties (65%) to the photographer
No editing - Alamy pioneered the concept of leaving the editing and keywording of images to the photographer
A non exclusive contract - photographers can sell their images elsewhere
