Gardens or outside locations suitable for wedding photography: Gidleigh Park is a privately owned country house hotel located in 107 acres of secluded gardens and woodland on the North Teign River, within Dartmoor National Park and is a perfect setting for your special day.
Venue special features: Set within 107 acres of parkland, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, Gidleigh Park benefits from a truly magical setting. The decor reflects the era when the building was built, with many features from the Arts and Craft Movement.
Venue History: The Tudor-style house was originally built as a grand private residence in 1928 for Australian shipping magnate C. H. C. MacIlwraith. In 1977, the mansion was transformed into a country house hotel. Andrew and Christina Brownsword used to come here as guests so Gidleigh Park has always been a special place for them. In 2005 they purchased the property and so became its 'custodians'.
In 2006, Gidleigh Park underwent a total refurbishment, keeping the comfort of the old house in tact and adding refreshing new elements. The number of bedrooms was increased to 24 and includes a very spacious new suite, with sauna and steam room.
