Venue History: Built on a one-acre field in 1866 the Royal Beach mansions Hotel opened it's doors on May 1st that year and was advertised at the time as a "visitor's paradise". Not just for seasonal holiday trade, the hotel's hospitality has been enjoyed in it's time by top-of-the-bill stars of stage, screen and radio as well as famous band leaders and their bands, whilst appearing at the Old Pier Theatre just across the road (now called South Parade Pier). The Beatles are probably the most (now) famous group to stay at the hotel. Over the years the hotel has seen some changes in ownership but in 2002 became privately owned by a local company, then refurbishment began. The hotel then met the conditions required to subscribe to Best Western Hotels (not owned by them) which is a world-wide sales and marketing organisation for privately-owned establishments.
