The Ballroom
On the ground floor the Ballroom, built by the 7th Duke of Atholl, continues to host gatherings of up to 220 for ceremonies, dining and dancing in a truly Scottish ambience. The Ballroom has excellent acoustics, a stage, a fine dance floor and an atmospheric lighting system.

The wedding ceremony may also take place here, followed by drinks in the State Dining Room, the Banvie Hall or outside in the idyllic setting of our tranquil gardens. Guests will then return to the Ballroom for the Wedding Breakfast, speeches and dancing.

The Banvie Hall
Adjoining the Ballroom and accessible via a "secret" door, the Banvie Hall makes an excellent wedding venue for a ceremony or reception, but is more often used to provide an extension to a ballroom event with bar and sitting-out facilities. Gardens or outside locations suitable for wedding photography: Blair Castle is at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape most of which was laid out in the 18th century and features a magnificent walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical gothic folly. Colourful peacocks roam the grounds, Highland cattle graze in fields nearby and the native red squirrel can often be spotted amongst the branches.

Local picturesque areas suitable for wedding photography: The Whim is an eye-catching folly standing on a bank to the north of the castle in line with the Lime Avenue which forms the main drive. It dates from 1761 and is simply a fagade pierced with gothic arches set behind a parapet wall linking two small pavilions.

Venue special features: The scene is the glorious arena of Highland Perthshire, where surrounding lochs, rivers and glens combine to complement the highlands scenery to perfection, creating both scenic vistas and shimmering sunsets. Historic, romantic, elegant or pastoral - often choices, but here you have them all in harmony and the dramatic backdrop of our outstanding scenery provides a stage set, which not even the best of Hollywood scenery designers could match.

Nestling amidst this scenic extravaganza about an hour and a halfs drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness, Blair Castle in all its splendour will provide a very special setting for your wedding day.

The nearby village of Blair Atholl is one of the prettiest of the Highland Perthshire villages and has its own railway station, serviced by the Caledonian Sleeper service to and from London Euston and connecting with all the major Scottish towns and cities.

Venue History: Blair Castle is the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. The castle enjoys one of Scotlands finest settings in the heart of Highland Perthshire.

With its roots in the 13th century, Blair Castles history extends over some 740 years, during which time it has welcomed countless generations of visitors. At the gateway to the Grampian Mountains on the route north to Inverness, the location was highly strategic. Today we can enjoy the wild beauty of the surrounding landscape, but centuries ago it was a threatening and dangerous place

One of the first private homes to open to the public in Scotland, Blair welcomes more visitors than any other
