Venue special features: The Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa is situated in what is now a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', a title that has been given to this area since the original golf clubhouse and two championship golf courses were built here in the early 1970's. Before then this acreage, which was relatively infertile, was used for arable crops.
The area has now been sensitively transformed into a forested, emerald landscape, full of natural water features, as well as some picturesque lakes which harness the streams for the irrigation of the golf courses and apple orchards.
Venue History: The Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa is a subsidiary of The Boxford Group, a family-owned business, founded by Bill and Devora Peake in the 1940's. The Peake family has been farming in Suffolk for well over 60 years; from a small 120 acre apple farm, their entrepreneurial skills have developed a thriving and diverse group of companies which have grown to include a hotel, golf, leisure and conferencing business, and fruit growing and processing, on around 900 acres of land.
