Venue History: Built in the early 1830s by Lord Stuart de Rothesay using materials salvaged from French medieval buildings. The Castle remained a family home until 1950. In the late 1960s two fires rendered the Castle derelict and subsequent storm damage furthered this. In 1977, it was purchased by Christchurch Borough Council and in the early 90's a programme of repairs began with the support of English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Highcliffe Castle is now a popular visitor attraction and one of the busiest wedding venues in Dorset.
