Venue special features: This Grade 1 listed building nestles in 20 acres of gardens and parkland, situated on the outskirts of the historic market town of Barnard Castle, amidst stunning Teesdale scenery.
Weddings can take place in exquisitely decorated rooms with lofty ceilings and grand pillars.
Venue History: Created by local man John Bowes and his French wife Josiphine, they shared a passion and love of art which led to the building of this purpose built Museum that opened in 1892.
Today the magnificent chateau houses the greatest collection of European fine and decorative arts in the North of England. These are displayed in exquisitely decorated rooms with lofty ceilings and grand pillars.
