January

The year kicked off in style with a successful Convention, attracting a record turnout of 8,500. The 'flagship' event saw delegates from all four corners of the globe and gave us the opportunity to start the year on a high.

Then it was off to Photo Training Overseas organised by George and Glenys Dawber which, by popular request, returned to the volcanic island of Lanzarote for the 21st anniversary celebration and for some fun in the sun!

February

Off to Focus on Imaging at the NEC - the momentum on recruitment continued from the Convention and our stand was mobbed for the four days of the Show. So much so that Juliet and I had met and chatted to members in the aisle! For the first time we ran free seminars on the stand which went down well and were continuously full to capacity. Our lecturers at Focus being:
Tom Lee, Paul Gallagher, Martin Grahame Dunn, Juli Cialone, Mike McNamee, Andrew Williams, Mike Wong, Catherine Connor, Mike Orr, Mike Williams and John McDonald.

March

Back to base to pack the bags and again and it was off on our Mediterranean tour visiting Malta, Greece and Cyprus with Martin Grahame-Dunn FSWPP.

A quick change and it was back to the airport to jet off to WPPI's Convention in Las Vegas. This event gives us the opportunity to meet up with lecturers and friends who support us year on year with lectures and articles for Professional Imagemaker.

April

Back to Manchester Airport again for our journey to exhibit at Photoworld Dubai, our second year at this popular event. We exhibited at the show and lectured on our stand which proved popular with the attendees.

May

A whole month in the office!

June

A hectic month on the road again with Australian high flyer Ryan Schembri being our guest speaker. The European tour visited Ireland, UK, Norway, Denmark, Malta, Greece and Cyprus and clocked up some 790 sea miles, 988 road miles and 4,441 air miles.

July

Another whole month in the office! Time to put the Convention plans into action.

August

Now what happened in August? Oh yes - we went on holiday! From Rhyl to Switzerland and back all by train - it all seems so long ago!!!

September

With no time for the dust to settle on the passports it was off to Photokina, our first time exhibiting at this massive event. Another successful event as we met many new trade contacts all of whom showed interest in the 2009 Convention. We were also delighted to recruit so many new international members. Our Photokina lecture team on our stand being: Mike McNamee, Jane Connor-zizer, Kevin Casha, Patrick Ciatto, Trevor & Faye Yerbury, Catherine Connor and Damian McGillicuddy. br>
October

Off to Hollyhead on our way to Dublin for our Irish 'Mini' Trade Show accompanied by our team of lecturers: Jane Conner-ziser, Patrick Ciatto, Mark Cleghorn, Michael Turner and Stephen Busuttil

Back to the 'Med' with our lecture tour with Jane Conner-ziser visiting Cyprus, Greece and Malta. The final part of the tour in Malta was the Maltese Convention with our guest speakers: George Dawber, Charles Zammit, Whitold Flak, John Henshall, Maz Mashru, Ramon Sammut, Patrick Ciatto, and Jane Conner-ziser.

November

It was on the road again with another hectic UK tour organised in conjunction with Nikon - two events, the first in Bristol followed by Stockport. These events attracted great numbers of delegates eager to see our comprehensive line-up of speakers which included: Joe Cornish, Mike McNamee, Lord Damien McGillicuddy, Uzair Kharawala, John Clements, Jamie Hunter, Bob Campbell, Colin Bell, Brendan Landy and Peter Lovelock.

December

As of the time of writing - still to come Nikon Solutions in London.

Look forward to the Christmas pudding and the Convention 2009.

This has been my personal journey through 2008 and does not include all the shows and events which our team has covered. This year has been by far the busiest for events and seminars, and without the support of 'special agent' Paul Taylor many things just could not have happened.
