Is it primarily about the chance to learn from the experiences of imaging icons?
I guess so. It's important to find the people out there who are willing to offer open and honest advice from their own experiences, to be made to feel that everyone suffers from problems and also have great successes. What's most important is not the problems, but how you overcame them. Sometimes just the knowledge that you are not alone is enough to give you confidence to reach and acheive your goals.

Your own mentors (living or dead)?
My mentor is and always has been Kevin Wilson.

Who today is leading the way in creative social photography and why?
I don't know, I mean, there are just so many... with so many creatives It's important not to follow just one or a select few. What's important is to take little bits of what you like, what inspires you and then use that to drive your own creativity and style. Lead the way in your niche.

If you could pick just FIVE seminars (other than your own of course!) to attend at The Societies of Photographers Convention whose workshops would you attend?
Stop Waiting to be discovered, George Fairbairn - Friday 8.30 ... Get motivated early on Friday... George is great really engaging, I did his podcast earlier this year... he's not afraid to find work and this should be a really helpful class.

10 essential Photoshop tips for the Portrait photographer - Panikos Hajistilly - Friday 1pm ... Pani is a thoroughly good person, always smiling and warm. His portrait skills are so broad and style so precise... I'd love to know what these tips are and it's sure to help you in your day to day work.

Shooting Away from the Studio, at home and abroad, Jakob Gronkjaer - Sunday @ 3.30... Jakob is a wonderful character and his knowledge of the technical side of flash photography is second to none... he's undoubtedly going to put on a talk that will inspire those like me, who haven't got a big studio to work in.

Creating Fine Art Images - Audrey Kelly @ Saturday 2pm... Audrey's work and vision is unlike ANYTHING i have ever seen, just a couple of hours to try and get inside her head, I'd almost guarantee you'd leave wanting to view and create images from an entirely different point of view.

The Art of Bride and Groom portraits - Scott Johnson @ 2pm... If you're into weddings and you struggle with posing brides and groom and you want to be in the presence of a cheeky Essex photographer with his finger firmly on the pulse of timeless wedding image making... you needn't look any further.

What do you think will be the next big thing in the industry?
A 10,000mm lens?

Would you want your own children to take up the reins of your empire (or have they)?
My son takes pictures, my daughter poses for them. I hope they get proper jobs that they enjoy as much as I do mine.

Your plans for the next five years?
Keep expanding Portrait of a Wrestler, mentor more, teach more, shoot more, smile more.
