"When I returned to England and settled in Plymouth I took some time out to raise my family and I then started my current business, offering portrait and wedding photography services, in 2003. Ever since that time I've been building things up and expanding the business, and it's been a very exciting journey."

Louise has attended the Convention four times now, and has spoken at two previous events. "It's great fun getting down to business and I really love the chance to meet people with the same passion and enthusiasm," she says. "This year as well as presenting my Workshop on the Friday I've been asked to be on the judging panel for the 20x16" print competition as well, and I consider this to be a real privilege and I'm very humbled to be involved.

"I take away so much from the Convention in so many different ways. My experience of judging the 20x16" images will help me to hone my skills in terms of looking for detail and composition in images, and it will also give my creative juices a lift to have the chance to view pictures created by some of the world's top image makers.

"Attending the Convention in the past has also given me the opportunity to gain more qualifications, and I acquired my Associateship during last year's event and even though it was nerve racking, it was brilliant to be involved as it was judged since it helped me to see my plus points and also the areas where I might be able to improve."

The huge range of workshops that are always available at the Convention is another big attraction for Louise. "I find the seminars to be very helpful," she says, "and there is always something new to learn, whether it's business related or more centred on creativity. I must admit I do love the awards dinner too, since it's great fun to meet new people, to celebrate with the winners and to see new and exciting images."

Is there anyone in particular that Louise is intending to go and see at the 2012 Convention? "This year there are a few photographers I would like to see," she says. "Stuart Bebb is a fabulous wedding photographer whose work I've always admired and I'll make sure that I get along to see Richard Walton, who I think is a fab new talent and extremely entertaining. I might also pop along to some of the business seminars, as in this climate it's always good to be able to pick up new marketing ideas."

It sounds as though it's going to be another busy occasion for Louise, but you can tell that she doesn't mind one little bit!
