As a break from the running of her business, Catherine enjoys shooting fashion for her personal work. 'Fashion imagery is where my creativity really lies and it's what I really love doing. It's completely different to when you're doing weddings; you don't have to worry about a client or how you're taking the image and there's no time constraints like at a wedding either! Making yourself get up from the computer and getting out to do personal projects is very fulfilling.'
Finding other photographers to work with can be a huge source of inspiration and for Catherine it even led to a trip abroad earlier this year.
'I stumbled on a photographer called Miss Aniela some time ago who I have now worked with quite a bit. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to go to New York to project manage a fashion shoot experience for her with photographers from all over the world.' Getting out of your comfort zone and immersing yourself in this way can be highly rewarding and generate so much new work for a portfolio as well as providing the opportunity to connect with new people. 'The whole thing just came together. Being in an amazing location with fabulous models is an unforgettable experience.
Project managing it was brilliant, just being able to chat to people with no pressure was great.'
