"My interest in photography began at the age of eleven, when my granddad gave me his old standard 8-cine outfit," Sean recalls. "I used this to make little movies, using my friends as actors. When I left school at 18 wanted to get a job in the film industry, but it was the 1980s and a time of recession, and there were no jobs for someone like me, with not many skills to offer. However, I did manage to get on a job creation scheme, working as an assistant to a local GP photographer. This was my first experience of still photography, and within days I was hooked.

"Luckily for me I lived close to Blackpool College, which ran a highly regarded photographic course. I went there and undertook a four-year course that included a year's working experience with an industrial photographic unit. It was a fascinating experience and installed in me a love for location photography that has never left me."

A stint assisting some well-known architectural and industrial shooters in London followed, along with a period working as a photographer on cruise liners in the Caribbean, and then Sean finally set up his own business, Photogenics, in 1988. Since that time he's built up a huge reputation as one of the best architectural photographers in the business.
