Compared with previous years I made a point of spending time in as many seminars as possible, some just to get a flavour or even a shot or two for stock, others to learn new stuff; and some just out of curiosity. I am always on the look out for gaps in Imagemaker's coverage and ideas frequently develop from these sometimes frustratingly short visits. By the same token I sometimes get lost in the moment and stay the whole time (apologies to all those people I forgot to make time for!).
Things began with something of a bang. I noticed queues of people standing in line waiting for their fluorescent wrist bands. 'This is all very rock concert,' I thought and took the lift down to the Palace Suite. The scene was truly rock concert, especially as Sue Bryce took to the stage in front of her whooping and hollering fans who were, self-evidently, up for it. The presence of a soundman and soundproofed translators' booth at the back only added to the sense of occasion. It was by all accounts a rather oestrogen-fuelled fest – a few men had sneaked in but ladies predominated amongst the 500+ participants. It was talked about well into the back end of the week.
