A day with the Yerburys - part 2 of 1 2 3

3. You don't need a lot of equipment. This is similar to the last point - I went in with the expectation that the Yerburys would have every bit of fancy gear known to man, and maybe some that wasn't even known to man yet (surely they shoot with a high- end medium-format camera with custom made lenses?!) Instead I was pleasantly surprised to find that Faye shoots with a Fuji XT-1 while Trevor's camera of choice is the Fuji X-Pro1. Both cameras had a single prime lens attached which remained on for most of the day (I think a 35mm lens may have made an appearance at one point).

When it came to lighting, again there was no magic or expense. Continuous lighting kept things simple - what you see is what you get. Gobos were fashioned out of cheap polystyrene or old cardboard. Old UV lens filters had been sprayed with hairspray to give a vintage effect.

4. Faye is a great cook. Best. Lunch. Ever.
5. Styling is so important. We had three models on the day (thanks to Gillian, Nicola and Ingrida) but with Faye's styling skills we had an unlimited number of options. Gillian had her hair down for a while, then it was an up style, later she was wearing a wig. And that was just hair - a huge number of options in wardrobe meant we had infinite choices for the day.

Styling is also important to ensure clothing, hair, etc matched the look of the shoot. For old Hollywood lighting, having some vintage clothing as well as hair styles from that era made everything come together seamlessly.
