It all started with Andy working out of his bedroom while still living with his parents at the tender age of 18 having just completed a BTEC National Diploma at college. 'It was 10 years ago this August that I shot my first wedding,' Andy tells me. 'I know that because I still see the couple around and they're about to celebrate their anniversary!' At 24 he decided that he had to take the business full time, found himself a studio and hasn't looked back since. Two years later Laura joined him full time after she finished her degree and together they have taken the business from strength to strength.

'We never really had a plan for the business,' says Andy. 'Things just came together for us. We've just always really worked hard, but I was so young when I started, I thought I knew everything!' Joining the SWPP four years ago was a turning point for Andy. 'After we went to our first Convention we saw a few bits and pieces that we'd just never known about before.

It allowed me to incorporate new techniques into my work and really helped me improve my style.'

While Andy was working hard to bring something new to the look of his photography, Laura was also working on their finished products and customer service. 'After the first year with the SWPP we sat down in the quieter winter months and decided to do something to pull ourselves away from the competition. We wanted to do what every wedding photographer wants to do - put our prices up and pull away from everyone else.' With a beautiful local church performing somewhere in the region of 150 wedding ceremonies a year, competition is stiff for photographers in the area. 'Having competition is great,' says Andy with enthusiasm. 'It gives us something to push even harder again, and we really enjoy the challenge.'
