This class of printer remains a superb choice for both the professional and enthusiast printer and has the advantage of a roll feeder for those with a higher throughput. The 17-inch throat opens up the '16x20-inch' market. The cartridge size of 80ml will also keep you going for quite a while. Although the higher Dmax and longer fade resistance will entice some 3880 users to upgrade, for most, you can afford to wait until your 3880 has run out of steam. The improved fine art paper handling will be a relief to many, it can be tricky on the 3880. The printer is quieter than the 4900 for a more harmonious office environment and one heck of a lot lighter. However, the automatic cutting , the higher gamut and larger carts of the 4900 remain its outstanding features albeit at about twice the price. The SC-P800 is priced at RRP £974.18 inc. VAT (£811.82 without VAT).
