Although there are many people who will sell you a set of actions, there are also many websites where they may be obtained for nothing. The classic place to visit is Adobe's Russell Brown (www. russellbrown.com ). As Senior Creative Director at Adobe Russell is well placed to provide sound advice and his website also attracts other quality links for you to browse around. Actions are available for many monochrome conversions and the Image Processor was beta-tested from Russell's site before it was incorporated into the final version of Photoshop. If, for example, you only have Photoshop CS (and therefore no image processor) you can add one by the simple process of downloading the tiny script file and copying it into your scripts folder (usually found at C:\AdobeCS2\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Scripts). Once the script is copied into the folder it becomes available from the Edit>Scripts menu.

Many of the actions you find on the web are basic (read useless!) and they are not the things you want to be browsing when you have a client breathing down your neck and a problem to solve. However, if you have an idle moment.

Google is your friend when you wish to find out how to do something in Photoshop. Your biggest problem is finding the search words to bring up your topic. Try to think of other names for your intended manipulation and persevere, it can sometimes take half an hour or so! The prizes are rich, though, you can find out how to do almost anything.
