Before the session I'd seen the engine room of the ship and thought of a robotic type of look. We found a fantastic silver bodysuit that would fit the look perfectly. It needed a hard and funky lightingstyle and I opted for the Elinchrom EcoRingflash unit that gives a radial lightwhich wraps around the body. Therewas also an old searchlight on the wallthat made for interesting ambient light.

With the light now dropping we stillhad a few looks to go but we opted fora black dress and I had the delegatesshoot in their own way around the boat.Whilst they did that I prepared the lookI'd known I wanted to finish with since Ifirst saw the location online. We ran a hot bath in a wonderful copper tub, dumped CoffeeMate into the water and gave it a stir - perfect milk bath. The bath had portholes to the side letting in some natural light which bythat time of the afternoon was getting darker and cooler in temperatureby the second. We dressed the set using clamps and more of those netcurtains to provide a boudoir set and eventually dunked a very cold butgrateful Alice into the tub. Shot on ISO1600 and wide open apertures therewas just enough light not to use flash. On some shots we turned the roomlights on too which added patches of warm light to the colder ambient.

It was a great way to finish this fantastic day. To sell out a Location Day putsa certain pressure on me as trainer. It means I have to find a way not just toeducate but to allow 15 other people to get superb images that showcasethe venue, model, lighting and pose. I was ably assisted in the session byAlice who has rocketed into our world and was a superb partner throughthe whole week. Thanks so much Ali G

To everyone else we shared time with over the Convention week, who we chatted to, shared a laugh with, or even just a nod in the corridor, I thank you. To the Jones family who provide this immense stage for us to gather, learn, laugh and share upon, my undying gratitude, it's an incredible thingyou do for the photographic industry every year.
