Print marking
You can, if you choose, place your own watermark on the image so that it is visible without destroying the viewer's ability to see what the image looks like. This can be done electronically in a digital file or by means of an impress or an inked stamp on a print. Discretion is the order of the day here. If you make it too obvious you run the risk of creating the impression that you do not trust your client. While this may be true, there is no need to make an issue out of it!

Lock up the CD
As Tom Lee described in his feature article a couple of issues ago, you may set a life-time of a CD in programs such as Pictures to EXE so that the CD is rendered unusable after the time that you specify. With CD's don't forget that they too should contain a copyright notice (on the media and the sleeve and perhaps as a readme file on the CD). If you do all three, nobody will be able to use ignorance as a defence for infringing your copyright.
