climbing thing)
haha my mark factory? I guess you mean my unique selling point? Either that or it's really embarrassing and you know more english than me Celine? (Which wouldn't surprise me). I love climbing things, I constantly looking for different angles that might interest me. I like to have a laugh and amuse myself more than anything. What started off as a bit of a joke has turned into an everyday occurrence. I think it goes back to trying to be original, when you start looking at the world from all angles lots more possibilities arise and it also helps to build up the variety on a shoot which helps with sales afterwards.
Would you like to thank anyone on tour?
Absolutely, I'd like to thank you Celine for putting up with me for two weeks and being a great model. A huge thanks to Paul Taylor for being well, Paul Taylor. Phil and Jules for asking me to take part in the tour and coming over to Istanbul for the first seminar. Manes Pangalos in Athens, Therese Debono, Kevin Casha, Martin, Trevor and all the other MIPP guys.
The Cyprus lot who were all awesome. Losifina and the Greek lot. Kayhan Durukan in Turkey for all his hard work. Everyone else involved in the tour and of course all the delegates who came to see me speak. I really can't thank you all enough. I'd also like to thank all of the Society's staff and members who have had an impact on my career in the last few years, I'm sure things would be a lot different now without you all. Finally my photography and non-photography friends, my mum and dad for the endless support, my brother Mike and my girlfriend Liz. I am so grateful of you all!
Finally what would you say to the up and coming photographer?
Follow your heart, shoot what you want to shoot and things will come together, if you go down a route of say, weddings, but don't really like weddings, it will never work for you. Find something you love shooting and focus on that. Don't worry too much about kit, spend more time worrying about lighting, composition and posing. Discover the artist within and don't just try and be another photographer, I believe we all have the ability to be original and create unique photography if we use our influences and life experiences. Remember that the only thing that makes us different is the way we think, understanding; this turned my career around and helped me realise that I can be who I want to be and still make a living from photography. Have fun, if photography ever starts feeling like a real job take a step back and ask yourself what do I need to do to get the passion back? If you are passionate about photography and everything that comes with it you'll be fine. Never get complacent with what you do, I have so much more to learn and constantly strive to develop my photography and way of life. Remember to be grateful that you get to take photographs and can earn money doing so, on the grand scheme of things we are just people who take photos. There are people grafting hard everyday, people saving lives and people starving in the world. Last but not least go out and shoot as much as possible, don't take yourself too seriously and love life.
