David's enthusiasm for his craft is catching, and it's now spread to his son Robert who, like his father, was born deaf. "He started out not having any interest in photography," he says, "but he was keen on specimen carp fishing and wanted to buy himself a camera to take photographs of the fish that he caught. I helped him to buy a Nikon D7000 and lenses, and he took it with him when he went on a trip to see family in Australia, travelling via Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Malaya. He came back with some amazing pictures and I realised that he had some talent as a photographer. Now he's set himself up shooting landscapes and travel material, and he's also learning to become a wedding, event and party photographer."
The pair now share a website, which has a specific section to showcase David's wedding portfolio, and the pair ultimately hope to work closely together on wedding assignments. They also shoot using the same stateof-the-art DSLRs, the Nikon D800, which David describes as "a brilliant camera; the best I've ever owned."
Living testament to the fact that talent, perseverance and a will to find a solution to problems can get you a long way whatever your circumstances, David and Robert are managing to survive in a competitive business, and are producing quality work that discerning clients are more than happy to pay for.
