There is often a lot of technology available to help you through your working day, but sometimes you need some pointers to start you on the right track.
Such was the case recently. When we carry out colour audits for Paper Chase we always end up with a colour print and an Excel data spreadsheet with the audit analysis. So that the data is never detached from its print source this involves laboriously writing 41 entries onto each sheet. This carries with it all the dangers of reading and writing errors. Resolving the problem with a label printer is so simple that it seems worthwhile pointing out our experience, so that if you have a similar requirement you can source a similar answer!
The level of sophistication that is available through Microsoft Office is immense and can be a great time-saver. Both Excel (for databases and analysis) and Word (for mail merges) can save many times more than the effort required to learn their use. The issue remains of getting the data onto the envelope, print, or file, as required. The Brother QL 560 makes the label printing a trivial task and can print a label in a fraction of a second. The more you have to do the more benefit you derive, but in most cases the expenditure of little over £50, which includes a £20 roll of labels, is soon repaid.
