"It's all about the image and that's where we come in. We enhance the photographer's images to make them the absolute best they can possibly be." One Vision MD, Derek Poulston
Professional photographic lab One Vision Imaging is probably a name you already recognise, having been trading for the past six years. Prior to that it was Colab, which had roots in the photofinishing industry stretching back to 1969. In short this is a company that knows its business, and most importantly recognises what photographers need in terms of high-quality, highly profitable products to make a success of theirs.
"One Vision is the coming together of three companies: Colab Group Ltd, Multiprint and Leach Colour Processing," explains One Vision Imaging's MD Derek Poulston, who has been at the helm since the Colab days, joined by business partner Nick Pancisi from Multiprint. "There aren't that many pro labs left; the world changed but we changed with it."
A case in point: other strands to the business include Simply Schools, which offers complete product packages to school and nursery photographers - "they take the pictures and we do the rest" - plus Vision Impress, which, coupled with the purchase of an Indigo press, has enabled it to offer photo books, in addition to the photo albums marketed under the One Vision name. Small books have proved very popular with photographers shooting boudoir, portraiture and model portfolios the MD adds. A fourth strand is providing photographic products and services to the sports industry under the Arena Imaging banner.
One Vision's core business then is servicing the professional market of commercial, social and industrial photographers. "The way we differentiate ourselves from the high street and any other pro lab is the optimum quality of our product," Derek enthuses. "Our customers stay with us because of the consistency of colour, density and contrast in their images. Instilled in all of us is the belief that without the perfect print there is no point in producing a beautiful album, a beautiful framed print or beautiful acrylic - all of which we do. It's all about the image and that's where we come in. We enhance the photographer's images to make them the absolute best they can possibly be, whether they're pros or enthusiasts."
But don't just take the MD's word for it. This is what Helen Ellis of Helen Ellis Photography had to say: "I recently changed my school and pre-school processing to One Vision as they raised my expectations for what a printing company can offer. I was concerned that transferring the whole of my processing to one national company was going to cause me a great deal of stress, as experienced with another national company. However, the whole experience has been exceptional. From the very start I was given assistance, advice and support to not only take care of my current requirements, but to help move my business forward too. The lead times have always been adhered to, if not quicker! Their colour correction service, printing and products are excellent value and I will happily give my recommendations to anyone who asks. Thank you One Vision!"
Wall-to-wall display products
Apart from the core business of printing photographs, One Vision Imaging is world renowned for its wall-display products, taking in both traditional framing plus an online multi-aperture framing solution that is unique to the industry. "The starting point for our wall products was to look at all the different ways you could take a photographic image and hang it differently, whether using box frames, canvasses or acrylics,"
