Here are some of the base-line data of each media to help you on your way.
The Digital Photo Series
All of the papers are cool to varying degrees. Smooth Pearl stands out with low Fluorescence (ie low OBA activity) and is noticeably warmer than its companions. Gloss 271 and Oyster 271 are very bright, the highest reading of the group. They are also the coolest papers of the set.
There are many test targets available on the web. This one is from IDEAlliance. Good ones contain a range of colours, test patches and monochromes.
Titanium is a special case and there is only one other paper on the market which matches it. It has a silver appearance after printing which is quite spectacular on the correct image. By the same token it does not do so well on subjects such as nature - stick with monochromes, creative, high fashion and product shots for starters!
