John Baikie's Remote Desktop - part 2 of 1 2

For the shoot I set up a temporary studio in a local hotel, and set up the Bowens lighting kit. I wanted it to look quite dark, but really focus on the eyes and make-up, so most of the images were head and shoulders shots. All images were shot with prime lenses, one camera had the 85mm f1.8 lens, the other had the 50mm f1.4 lens on it. These lenses are great for this sort of work, and so sharp. After we finished the sun had come out briefly so we decided to do a few location shots of each girl in the woods at the back of the hotel, which gave us a totally different look and style. I used the Quantum lighting set-up for this and shot directly into the sun for most of the images, a look I really enjoy creating.

The second shoot I am featuring today was for a professional dancer's portfolio. We wanted to feature some cool location shots involving some ballet type poses. We didn't want the images to look too 'perfect' and needed a location that was a contrast to the outfits and poses. We ended up using a forest area which had some interesting features. The hardest part of this shoot was for Antonia to pull of fposes and hold them in some pretty uneven ground conditions. I do like to give the models a challenge on my shoots :)

Again the trusty Quantum flash came into play, and as usual I just used the one light and a reflector. Considering it was January and very cold we were delighted with the set of images we got, some of which are featured here.
