"I have already been chosen to do quite a bit of assessing, which I really enjoy doing. I always give the members' work my full time and attention, which of course they fully deserve, and I am always honest while hopefully constructive with my comments. What's particularly nice is that a few recipients of my comments have personally got in touch saying that my 'words of wisdom' were exactly what they needed to progress, which has been extremely rewarding."

For those who enjoy high-quality training the good news is that Stuart will be holding a Convention workshop for the first time in 2013 and, perhaps not surprisingly, he'll be using his own background as the basis for the session. "I'm planning to show my work and my style and also to tell some interesting stories about the pressures and trials of getting my photography consistently used in some of the biggest publications over the years," he says. "I'll also be explaining some of the tricks that I have developed to achieve this and how I've developed the lighting techniques that I'm known for."

It should be one of the standout events of the Convention, and it's another indicator of the high calibre of the speakers that The Societies continually managed to attract.
