Having ventured to London twice now, Viktorija is eager to feel the influence of other photographers and to show her work to a wider world. She joined the Societies last year and her first visit to the Convention in 2011 saw her stay the entire week. "I could hardly believe so many various perceptions could live under one roof," she says. "From one masterclass to another, from room to room you entered totally different creative spaces. I was overwhelmed by the whole experience."
The experience encouraged her to enter the monthly competitions and she determined to become a more involved participant and to come back in 2012 as someone who was actively involved in the awards. As always she followed her heart in determining which images to enter and her instinct didn't let her down.
"Usually I recognise my favourite pictures at once," she says. "I don't linger long searching through my archives. You have that blissful moment when you press the shutter release and you know that's it. These are the images I cherish and wish to share. I was excited to observe the judging process at the print competition and to find out how well I would get on. The awards night itself was intense."
As we all now know, Viktorija had no need to be worried and the judges totally understood the message she was putting out and loved her work. A new star has risen and it appears that this is one rising photographer we'll be seeing a lot more of in the years to come.
