Wedding Photography in all kinds of Light - part 4 of 1 2 3 4

One thing I should point to any photographer thinking of changing from his/her regular film to another, is shoot some test rolls, you should be familiar the materials characteristics before using it in something as important as a wedding. Available light is tricky when you don't know the ratios that the film will respond to. Low light photography with high speed films is even more difficult so your technique needs to be well honed. The films are definitely up to the challenge and the choice is actually getting better.

With all these wonderful products available to us, it makes me wonder when I hear all the guff about the great digital take over, why then is here so much investment into silver halide. I own a small digital camera and I am not suggesting we bury our heads in the sand, but I think film and paper will be around for a long time to come, it will certainly see my career out.

If you were to ask me now which is the best all round film, I could only tell you my favourite film for the most part is NPH, but when it comes to winter the old press photographer in me reaches straight for the Fuji NHG with a couple of roll of Konica SR-G 3200 for insurance. Ah but spring is just around the corner and with the first larks of spring a young man's emotions should turn lightly to thoughts of Fuji NPS and other medium speed films.
