Introduction

This is a compact, high-speed inkjet printer intended for laboratory or event use where speed and cost are vital ingredients. The units may be arranged in clusters for even higher throughputs and so the system has a lot of expansion potential. They are part of the Frontier family and so if required they may be hitched up to a customer-operated kiosk system.

The basis of the system is a six-cartridge inkjet employing Vividia dye inks, allied to roll media of 6-inch or 8-inch width. Any print size that fits onto this paper may be made.

The machine footprint is tiny at a mere 2.23 ft2 (460mmm x 430mm).

Each unit is 23kg so you would need a trolley to transport it into an event but it is manageable for a reasonably strong male or two lesser mortals (such as geriatric magazine editors!). The 200ml cartridges are £33 each which keeps running costs low and the paper is in 65m lengths at £20.34 (both ex VAT).

The system cost is very competitive and this is important for this market. At £2,495 it represents the sort of investment that an event photographer can occasionally make from a single gig. Overall then this moves the printer into territories such as hospital medical illustration, law-enforcement agencies along with smaller photographic studios who wish to produce a modest number of competitively priced prints.

Print Sizes

The roll widths are either six or eight inches and any combination which fits into that framework may be printed. The maximum length is one metre which places the prints in the lucrative 'banner market' for bespoke birthday and celebration displays. It also enables panoramas to be printed - how cool to pitch up at an event and sell panoramas, shot on the day - think about it!
