Your own mentors (living or dead)?
Easy - David Attenborough and David Sheppard. Neither are photographers but I love David Sheppards wildlife images and I don’t have to explain about Mr Attenborough. As far as photographer mentors are concerned then I don’t have one - I look at everyone’s images (wildlife and other genres) and find them all inspiring and learn from them all.
Who today is leading the way in creative social photography and why?
Can’t answer this as I don’t know ;(
If you could pick just FIVE seminars (other than your own of course!) to attend at The Societies of Photographers Convention whose workshops would you attend?
Beautiful Bodies - Ellie Cassidy
Light, Shoot, Edit, Tag, Send - Terry Donnelly & Ian Cook
Hot tricks for photographers in Photoshop - Greg Moment
Long Life to the Pets - Kristina Zambrano
What do you think will be the next big thing in the industry?
Infrared is worth watching. Thinking about trying this for wildlife as the results I’ve seen look interesting.
Would you want your own children to take up the reins of your empire (or have they)?
After I discovered my love of photography both my children (fully grown) purchased DSLRs and each in their own way got involved with photography as a hobby. Having just become a grandmother I will for sure be presenting my grandson with a camera just as soon as it is practical to do so. Not because I want him to be a wildlife/nature photographer, but because photographing the natural world opens up such wonderful learning opportunities and teaches you how to see things in a new way.
Your plans for the next five years?
Hopefully to continue to photograph more wonderful wildlife in their natural habitat doing what they do naturally!
