The lower rear of the screen panel contains a headphone socket, and SD Card slot (waste of space for pro DSLR users with CompactFlash cards!) three USB (3) ports, two Thunderbolt ports and an Ethernet port. The Thunderbolt port neatly doubles as a socket to go out to a projector and you will need a suitable adaptor cable for this.
The screen resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 and the complete unit weighs 5.68kg. It is 17.7" high, 20.8" wide and 7 inches deep (the stand mainly).
The keyboard is the by now familiar small Bluetooth version and a magic mouse is also provided. For those unfamiliar with Macs, the Magic Mouse does left and right clicks, scrolling and gestural sweeping - all from a totally plain top surface - magic indeed!

Start Up
For an experienced PC user, setting up a Mac is relatively simple - trivial even, it's just a case of switching on allocating a few passwords, providing email details and away you go. The wireless connectivity is a dream to use. On day two the iMac was switched on at a hotel down at Epson. A panel popped up saying the hotel wifi is available do you wish to log on? A single mouse click and we were FaceTiming in under 10 seconds. Conversely there is a learning curve to be climbed in finding your way about. Accessing the hard drive to install some printer profiles was a nightmare; there is no equivalent of 'My Computer' and the task defeated us - back to FaceTime to call up help! Obscure or what; why the hell would you want to hide such a simple thing so deep in the system? Once the profile was loaded the iMac found the networked printer very easily and we were able to make a print in no time at all. However, an email announcing this triumph to the masses back home failed to get though despite recording as sent.
