Why is The Societies of Photographers Convention such a big deal for photographers?
The convention for me is one of the highlights of the year I get real buzz meeting so many different types of photographers there are so many classes to visit to gain knowledge and inspiration it showcases the best in photography in so many ways from the comps to the dinner.

Is it primarily about the chance to learn from the experiences of imaging icons?
yes but also the chance to meet and talk to many other photographers from around the world it is great to hear what other people are up to.

Your own mentors (living or dead)?
Julius Shulman, George Tanner, John Maltby, J O Winston Link and many others

Who today is leading the way in creative social photography and why?
A difficult one for me as social photography is not my field but I do admire the lighting and control of Edmunsons

If you could pick just FIVE seminars (other than your own of course!) to attend at The Societies of Photographers Convention whose workshops would you attend?
Cathrine Connor, Terry Donnelly, Damian McGillcuddy ,David Motizambert, and David Stanbury

What do you think will be the next big thing in the industry?
High resolution motion i.e Red 8k from which you can extract high quality stills so many clients now want stills and motion of the same shoot .But I feel you still get better stills from a still camera shot for stills in photography style but clients can often push in any direction due to the commercial advantage. Will be interesting how this progresses.

Would you want your own children to take up the reins of your empire (or have they)?
Maybe who knows at the moment my daughter is studying law at university but you never know.

Your plans for the next five years?
To shoot projects that I want to shoot at this stage of my career I like to be more selective of which projects I want to take on. Working with people and clients I like to work with and shooting subjects that excite and inspire. But for sure I am enjoying my photography today as much as when I started. We are all so privileged to work in photography.
