Is it getting harder or easier to make a decent living?
Photography work is hard, it always has been. The hardest workers and the best problem solvers, mixed in with photographic talent will always make a living. It is getting harder year on year, but you have to separate yourself from the rest with quality, and creativity.
How do you stay ahead of the game?
Continually strive to shoot better images than the last time I picked up the camera.
How do organisations such as The Societies of Photographers help?
If I had to choose just one, networking. There is no place better for meeting and forging photographic relationships than what the SWPP provide. If I had to choose two, the training opportunities and the convention (ok that was three)
Why is The Societies of Photographers Convention such a big deal for photographers?
Where do I start? Networking, meeting people, training, entertainment, expo, print competition, awards night, the list goes on and on, its just an awesome event.
Is it primarily about the chance to learn from the experiences of imaging icons?
For me not so much, because I don’t like to be influenced by others to much, but do like to occasionally see what others are doing. But for people on different parts of their photographic journey its an awesome opportunity to interact and learn from some of the industry icons.
Your own mentors (living or dead)?
I don’t have mentors, but have been helped and influenced along the way in the past by people and I am truly grateful to for that.
There are 0 days to get ready for The Society of Photographers Convention and Trade Show at The Novotel London West, Hammersmith ...
