The images were scaled by the amounts shown in the table using Photoshop, Bicubic Smoother, brought into a single file, sharpened using the Pixel Genius action and then printed onto a 17" x 30" sheet. This print was then examined and compared with the wallpaper version. All images, by this time had been brought to a standard 13.25 inches of height for the Liver Building.
As ever with this type of exercise, subtle difference will not show if we scale the images down to page size and so some narrative commentary is needed. Casting about for a feature that spanned the range of detail rendering we choose the shields that sit between the upper story windows of the Cunard Building (the one next door to the Liver Building).
These are complex in their architectural details and consist of an armorial shield spanned either side by two fluted columns capped with an escallop shell, as shown in the close up taken from alongside the building).
