At this stage Jules also signed up as a member of the SWPP, and it's a move that she's never regretted. "I've been a member for just over two years now and it's been great for me as I try to find my style and myself in my photography," she says. "The encouragement has been great and I love being able to talk to like-minded people as I try to push forward my photography."
These days the wedding and portrait business is going well and Jules has also recently set up 'Baby Boom,' a dedicated service for those who want pictures of their newborns. However, the love for fashion photography has never gone away and it led to the setting up of two challenging personal projects that could only be completed with the help of a full creative team. It promised to be hard work for everyone concerned, but the reward at the end of it all would be amazing pictures that everyone concerned could be proud to have been part of.
When Aberdeen-based photographer Jules Macdonald wanted to create some exciting new fashion work she recruited a formidable team of creative all-girl talent to work alongside her on the projects
Sixties Style
"The idea for the first of the two projects came about when I happened to see pictures of the hallway of a local house that was used for wedding ceremonies," says Jules. "It was the home of former Chanel supermodel Candida Bond, and I approached her to see if she would allow me to use the setting, and in particular the striking black and white floor that it featured, as the location for a 60s themed fashion shoot that I had been thinking about. This would utilise a number of authentic vintage pieces by stylist, Debbie McLeod, who is always making news in the north east as a fabulous designer and stylist.
