There is the additional factor that OBAs deteriorate with time and do not find much favour in the fine art printing field. For fine art then, the museum, archival properties and warm tones of the rag papers may be preferred. Certainly if a cream window mount - a salon mount as the Americans would call it - is to be used, a brightened paper suddenly stands out and looks rather muddy against the cream.
When it comes to canvas all of the above applies butadditionally there is the gloss/matt effect to be considered.
This affects the ink requirements (Matt Black ink for matt finishes) but the user has to also consider whether a varnish is to be applied. Today's varnishes are tough, odour free and easy to apply and they impart great depth to the blacks and dark tones, as well as boosting the saturation. However, this is not to all users' tastes, but if you do propose to use an un-protected matt canvas finish you need to be assured that the client is not going to dust it down or spray it with furniture polish (yes it does happen!).
