Parker Photographics reports that the classic Italian-made Mario Acerboni range of albums it distributes now has a digital option, the set up allowing for any album cover to be married with any interior; perfect for those who want to mix modern and classic. And the big thing that Acerboni is doing to encourage professional photographers to try the service out is to make a one-time only 'buy one, get one free' offer.

"So if you think you've just shot a nice wedding, give Acerboni a try and submit the images to us. They will then make a replica of the album that your bride chooses free of charge," explains Parker's MD Ian White. This can be utilised for promotional purposes, by way of a hard copy portfolio, and as a further aid to winning business from prospective clients. "And we're not just talking photobooks, but a hand-bound leather album which could be 12x16 inches in size and cost around £400. Acerboni will produce another one just for you free of charge."

For those who prefer to get even more hands on, there are the productsfrom Photo-Me. One for photographers with an existing minilab set-up is the KIS Photo-Me Photobook Builder. Prints from the minilab are stacked in the feeder and the Photobook Builder does the rest, automatically scoring, folding, gluing, binding and trimming. With the option to produce up to 30-page 5.7x8 inch books, a 10-page version can be finished in just over two minutes, the company claims. Promising profit margins to the photographer as high as 80%, the Photobook Builder is compatible with any brand RA4 minilab that produces 8x12-inch prints. An alternative option also from Photo-Me is the MyPocketbook kiosk, which can simultaneously print 6x4-inch photos and pocket-sized photo albums of up to 30 pages in as little as five minutes.

If you'd rather someone else created you a great looking photobook, then look no further than Bob Books, which has a host of new products due to appear in summer 2012. This includes a landscape-format product measuring 28x21cm on glossy photo paper that is a brand new finish, along with a square format also on glossy photo paper. The gloss carries over onto new A4 and A3 calendars also from Bob Books, plus a glossy landscape format calendar in A4 and A3 sizes. In general terms the company's big development for 2012 is a PDF-to-print option which the company claims will make life easy for designers and photographers alike, plus an online calendar creator application to follow on from its online book creator.

The storybook option is also provided to social photographers by industry stalwart Loxley Colour. Meeting this demand the Apertura album from the Bellissimo range is a traditional matted album with a genuine leather cover and antique white or black mounts for that timeless appeal. With Loxley constantly refreshing its options, the Bellissimo range is growing steadily with new paper size and style options. Visit the Loxley website for more and you'll find an almost overwhelming amount of product; from innovative frames and mounts, through digital albums and coffee-table books, to funky box frames, MDF desk blocks and canvas displays.

Fashion conscious photographers looking for swish album solutions to present hundreds of images to their clients are meanwhile directed to the Couture Book range distributed by Keepsakes. The purpose of Couture Books is to create one-of-a-kind handmade coffee-table books for presenting your digital photos in an optimum manner, and the company states that it prides itself in producing the most beautiful books in the world. To achieve this high aim, each book, at up to 300 pages, is hand produced by master craftspeople to Keepsakes' exacting standards. The new book in the family is 'Cannes', which is notable for its printed cover. In fact prints can be made on to a range of cover fabrics: organic cotton, polyester satin or microsuede.
