Another area that Barrie is increasingly receiving bookings for is the pre-wedding shoot. However these aren't just any ordinary engagement shoots. Couples are flying over from the Far East for a long weekend and spending a day with Barrie being shot against the backdrop of some of Britain's iconic landmarks and architecture in their wedding outfits. The images are then shown at their wedding back home, where their relatives will see images from their shoot projected onto big screens. "I feel my style of photography suits that" he says. "The dramatic shots against architecture and fun shots running over Westminster Bridge." There can be no doubt that these dramatic signature images are the reason that Barrie is kept busy with bookings from couples all over the world for both home and destination weddings.
A learning experience
The Societies Convention in January offers Barrie and Bev the opportunity to once again deliver a masterclass that will be packed full of advice for photographers and their business. With a good six years of experience behind them speaking about photography it's bound to be a great learning experience for everyone involved. This year they will be speaking about what the judges are looking for when they are viewing images submitted for SWPP qualifications. They'll be comparing judging for qualification with judging for competition and looking at images provided by the delegates to see how they could be improved.
