The 2016 Convention marked a turning point for me, as I was asked to be one of the team of judges. I couldn't have imagined that the guy who got lost walking out of Hammersmith tube station in 2011 was now sitting alongside Jerry Ghionis and Faye Yerbury judging in the same competition I fell in love with in 2013. And even better, I picked up yet another Gold Rosette in the wedding category! I was also one of the five judges who awarded the Convention's first perfect score of 100 for the overall winner, David Edmonson's stunning portrait of his family. I'll never forget that. Following on from a successful Masterclass in 2016, at the 2017 Convention, I am going to be holding a wedding Masterclass on what makes an awardwinning wedding image, and what judges are looking for in an image that will take it from a mid-70 score, to the high 80s, and a chance of a Gold Rosette. In my Masterclass, I'll be explaining posing techniques and lighting tips that will help catch the judge's eye.
In 2017, I'm also going to be holding my first Superclass! In this, I'll be explaining much of the same, but also putting my tips into practice during a live shoot with a bride and groom both in the hotel and the surrounding areas. Afterwards, we'll be back in the room, and I'll be giving a few secrets away during a live edit of some of the images taken during the class, and again pointing out what the judges look for when it comes to awarding an image, whether
