Hooked on Classics
Though there is now a wealth of choice available to those who want it when it comes to presentation ideas, Parker Photographics echoes the beliefs of many in that their MD has also noticed a shift back to the classic album of late.
"The reason why is the simplest in the world: fashion goes in circles and it's very hard to invent something new," Ian White reasons. 'Within the presentation market for the past 30 years we've been dotting between brown interiors, white interiors and we were the first company to offer black.
"Originally a black background was only used for commercial photography. But fashion changed from men wearing grey morning suits to black and dark blue, and black went with this change. It went ballistic in terms of popularity. Then digital came along and was completely new. But likewise there are so many people who can now buy a binding machine and make a book that people are getting tired of it. And we know as a company that we have to keep developing to offer more services and attract clients."
Ian adds that while Parker Photographics is not a huge company, this is by design, and means that it has a very personal approach to its customers. "They're not just a number and it's not about trying to get hundreds and thousands of people using us. But the photographer that does use us knows that they can ring any member of staff here, and it's so hands-on that it will get sorted. That allows us to give the best level of service that we can to the professional photographer."
