The problem with professional photographers today is...
A lot of wedding photographers are stuck in this perpetual white wedding machine, using out dated & cliched poses, which don’t necessarily fit the average couple’s real life existence. However until white wedding attire & traditional customs change as a whole, we will potentially gaze upon our couples as a Prince & Princess on their wedding day effectively treating them as such, which makes for contrived photographs that just aren’t real.

What’s the worst commercial error you have made to date?
Signing up for a credit card machine, being ripped off by dodgy wedding brochure ‘agents’ & general print advertising as a whole.

How did you rectify the mistake?
Mostly you can’t you just learn not to get burned next time round!

The lessons learnt?
It’s a jungle out there!

Is it getting harder or easier to make a decent living?
In some ways it’s getting harder but I do like the challenge & I believe it pushes me as a photographer / business person. The reason for this is that I have to use my imagination in the services I provide & the images I am creating in order to stand out from a saturated market.

How do you stay ahead of the game?
Don’t follow trends …quite the opposite

How do organisations such as The Societies of Photographers help?
As well as the amazing training on offer at the Convention and throughout the year there is just unparalleled support & opportunity I just haven’t found elsewhere. Besides that the chance to mix with some of the best photographers in the world is priceless!
