Becoming a competent photographer is a serious challenge, one that keeps us learning and exploring - what would you say is the most important challenge you've faced as a photographer?
Believing in myself and having the confidence to run a business. I am my own worst critic and have been filled with self-doubt, at times to the point of wanting to throw in the towel. I've met some awesome people in this industry and sometimes they're the ones who get you through the down days - as they've been there themselves. Never be afraid to take chances!
Looking at a photographer's portfolio can be revealing - what does your portfolio reveal about you?
That I capture not only truly beautiful timeless portraits of pets, but also that I ensure their personality shines through in the pictures too.
Do you enter competitions? If so, is it with your dayto-day work or do you shoot specifically to create a competition image?
I do enter some. I should enter more to be honest, but sometimes I just don't get the time, so it tends to be with my day-to-day work.
What's the best bit about being a photographer?
Creating images and memories that my client can treasure. I love seeing their faces light up and hearing the ahs, the OMGs and that's so cute. I then know I've done a great job. I've also met some fabulous people within the industry and have clients who are now good friends. I feel I'm a very lucky girl and privileged to do what I do. It's not everyone who can say they truly love their job.
Who inspires you?
I take inspiration from lots of people, my mentor Damian McGillicuddy, other photographers, artists and my friends and family.
What does the future hold?
Lots more hard work and dedication from my CEO Bokeh and me. To push Furrtography forward and to be classed as one of the best pet photographers in the world.
