Over the road from the MGM is the New York, New York hotel which includes a recreation of the fabulous Art Deco Chrysler Building. We could just see it peeping into the skyline and so used some railings and signs to make a street scene. The sun was on the back of Tiffany with Liz hiding in the bushes to the right with a 70cm deep Octa and Quadra.
Finally we turned a corner into shadow, put a flash on the opposite side of Tiffany and shot from low to put the sky as background. In the whole session we'd barely travelled 200m from the hotel door but found so many places to play. It was a wonderful session to lead and I can't wait to go back.
Hopefully we'll have that opportunity in 2016, if we go, why not join us? Would be great to have even more Societies' members over there. If you haven't yet taken advantage of the joint membership with WPPI then do so now. Complete the form at https://swpp.co.uk/secure/wppi-join.htm and your membership will be confirmed.
The whole trip was a revelation for me in my photography and I look forward to developing and sharing ideas as we go through 2015. Thanks for the opportunity Phil and Juls, was great to share it with you. Thanks Liz and Richie too. In next edition we'll dissect images taken in the desert on a shoot at an abandoned Silver Mine, see you then.
