Of course holding an exhibition isn't the only way to get feedback on your work - Vicki-Lea relentlessly enters The Societies' monthly competitions. 'The competitions at the SWPP are responsible for much of the confidence that I have in my work. It's one of the main things that has pushed me. I make sure I get pictures in each month so that I know I have some work to reflect on regularly. I really don't mind if I don't get an award; I like to think about why I didn't do so well and how I can improve for next time. There's not very many ways you can get feedback for free, and this is a very good one!'

The Cover Image Shoot
A cover image from Vicki-Lea Boulter has long been overdue. We got within a whisker a couple of years back but then the RPS journal popped through the door and they had beaten us to it! Well good things are worth waiting for and as soon as we saw the edits from one of her recent shoots, the chosen image screamed 'Put me on the cover!' It was shot during the making of her Christmas-themed 'Behind Every Great Man' image with model, Paige Frost, and was styled by the equally fabulous Estelle Cole. Vicki-Lea was keen to promote a 'strong' rendering of a female and created a number of versions as well as setting out to shoot reindeer to complete her composition shown opposite. Thankfully Vicki-Lea also shot records of the build-up so we can see the progress.
