On Sunday morning the weather was glorious. After breakfasting on coffee and croissants, I checked my gear over while the girls prepared themselves for the shoot. I had brought a Nikon D700 as my main camera, a D200 for back-up and a Fuji x100 for fun. For lighting I had two Elinchom Quadra Ranger heads with a skyport trigger, plus a couple of speedlights SB26 & SB900 slaved, as well as trusty Lastolite reflectors. I had brought a variety of Nikon lenses, three primes: 35mm f2.8, 85mm f1.8 and a 135mm f2.8, as well as two zooms a 24-85mm f4.5 plus my 80-200mm f2.8 which was to be the workhorse of the shoot.

On the first day we shot over a dozen dresses, individually and some together, in different locations with different accessories. For this, the camera was set at ISO 100, and lens at the widest aperture the sun would allow. I used a 40x40 cm soft-box on a Quadra head as a main light, with the SB 26 with a mini soft-box modifier, and the second Quadra head when needed as fills or kickers. The Quadra with its small battery pack was ideal for moving around from location to location in the garden and I was surprised to find at the end of the day I had shot over 850 exposures without having to change the battery.
