To take the attention off me I booked a superb new model, Sophia Day. I first worked with Sophia as a contestant at a beauty pageant (she was the contestant clearly, I just took pictures!). She stood out as someone with potential to be a photographic model and since then I have had the pleasure of working with her on a range of nude, fashion and bridal shoots and workshops.
We had the run of an empty theme park to take pictures in - what could be better? Well it was even better in that - it was February and the sun was shining! Unbelievable luck and I was determined to make the most of it.
We worked through a range of natural light, flash and combination techniques. There were so many potential locations we were spoilt for choice. We started off by the miniature railway using the lead in lines of the tracks and natural light. Sophia's back was turned to the sun and we experimented with adding flash and reflectors. A little more sun and reflector action and before we moved into an underpass. There I demonstrated the possibilities offered by selecting your shooting position carefully. This high key image was taken purely using ambient light.
