The next day we moved to the other side of the park! Having had such a wonderful day with Sophia in the Theme Park I felt it was going to be difficult to trump it. That was until we entered the zoo and Sue Lax appeared on the scene. Sue is a pet photographer by trade and wow, does she have a natural affinity for her trade. The critters loved her. To the extent that she couldn't take pictures at times such was the affection of Django the Australian Galah.

These were taken in the aviary, a fantastic structure which was formerly an Imax cinema but now works so well for these beautiful birds. Metering is always tricky, necessitating total understanding of your kit and how it works. We practiced on slower moving ducks before we entered the Dome but it was still a challenge. Not least because you could never have an eye purely for the image. Parrots are intelligent creatures and will investigate anything. Mix that with a beak that can crush bone and you don't want to leave kit unattended for any length of time.
