Click Props

We recently profiled the Societies' Trade Award-winning Click Props, an ever-expanding division of the Click Group, reporting on how it was attracting the patronage of pro photographers Ross Grieve, Emma Drabble and Elli Cassidy.

Photokina in September - the world’s biggest biennial photographic trade show - saw it add 50 new backgrounds to its already 350-strong background line up. Those, Click Props claim, have proved incredibly popular include the ‘Make Mine a Double’, which is described as a combination background, meaning both the floor and the background are supplied as one complete piece. So photographers no longer have to purchase a separate floor sheet and then a coordinated background.

When last we spoke, the company said that it had sold 200 of these backgrounds since the start of the year.

Its latest and largest background, however, is fittingly called the Maxi+, which follows on from the nine and a half feet high ‘Maxi’. The new ‘+’ version is three metres wide and 2.44m high, or approximately 10ft x 8ft. As the size suggests, this is perfect for group portraits of families and friends, and whilst the size is big, the cost is not.

It’s also worth noting that all Click Props’ backgrounds feature metal eyelets at the top for strength, always located in the same place, so any photographers who have already been using Click’s products for the past five years will be able to seamlessly integrate the new ones.

They can also be attached to any background support stand using clamps and/or attached to existing studio background roller cores, so photographers can bring them up or down with ease. They are also incredibly mobile, according to the pro photographers, such as Ross Grieve, who use them. In terms of trends, the pastel colours, ‘Old Masters’ pale flowers and autumn shades are selling well, plus it has also brought in superhero designs and blackboards.

Furthermore, for photographers wanting to get value for money if ordering a handful of backgrounds, there is the option of joining the Click Props' buying club - the ‘Background Club’ - which costs £50 a month including VAT, payable via standing order.
