Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G
Nikon
Recent Nikon announcements to coincide with January's CES trade show in Las Vegas were also plentiful, and included the unveiling of the D4S. Lens announcements there included a standard 3x optical zoom in the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II, launched alongside the entry level D3300 DSLR. Bought separately the compact and portable lens, which offers a versatile wide angle to moderate telephoto perspective, retails for a suggested £229.99.
More appealing to enthusiasts is Nikon's AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G, with not only that fast maximum aperture but also optics designed for the brand's high megapixel FX format DSLRs, though it can naturally also be used with DX (APS-C) format sensor DSLRs also. Suggested retail cost, to include a lens pouch and lens hood, is £519.99.
Talking of high-end Nikons, there are also a couple of accessories for its excitingly retro styled 'Df' digital SLR. In a matching AN-SPL001 strap and CF-DC6 black or brown leather case. This camera is also naturally compatible with the Nikon Speedlights mentioned and the Wireless Mobile Adapter.
In terms of Nikon's new bags and accessories range, announced just prior to Christmas 2013, three 'hero' products worth further investigation by members of The Societies are its three-way shooting bag (the 'SW3'), casual shoulder bag and DSLR hand strap.
The three way shooting bag functions as a hand carried bag, shoulder bag or backpack and comes in navy blue or black. The frame supported cover opens up wide to enable photographers to readily get at all their stuff inside, whilst the 'doctor's bag' type design claims to make it easier to carry. It also comes with an inner pouch and rain cover and can be bought direct from Nikon's online store (store.nikon.co.uk) for £149.99.
