Loxley Colour

Loxley is another very familiar face at The Societies' Convention come January each year. Naturally it has a wide range of products pitched at the portrait, social and wedding photographer, and more besides, as well as offering professional lab services.

In terms of 'hero' products with significant appeal, the company flags up its lustre and metallic finish prints, with Loxley even offering a largeformat printing capability up to 10ft by 4ft if you really want to deliver an image with an identifiable 'wow' factor. (Head to www.loxleycolour.com/roesprints.aspx). Orders can be sent in on disk, USB stick or via FTP, with despatch times ranging from same day if ordering before 1pm, to three working days.

There are additional fine art paper options, printed with archival inks to ensure fade resistance. Turnaround time for Giclee fine art prints is three days, with print options comprising Torchon, Bamboo, Pearl, William Turner, Museum Rough and Photo Rag. Again specific sizes and prices can be had by heading online, in this case to: www.loxleycolour.com/gicleeprints.aspx

The social photographer is also naturally looking for that finishing touch that will help their product stand out from the crowd. Loxley offers 'Boutique packaging', which it describes as a great solution for presenting prints direct to your client without having to source packing elsewhere.

There are also Print Boxes to be had, as a great way to keep proof prints together in a keepsake box. Look out too for Loxley's Portfolio box. This holds 15 mounted prints as a 'clever alternative' to an album, and can be used for elongated photography programmes such as bump to baby, or engagement to anniversary.

Like the others here, Loxley offers a range of customer-friendly services besides pure product. For example, there is complimentary colour correction, as well as a free test print service.

In terms of Loxley's pricing structure, prints are from 34p, the Fine Art service starts at £7.20, boutique packaging can be added to your order for £6 (regardless of size), the Print Box is from £22, the Portfolio box service is from £45 for the box, and costs £3.90 for mounted prints. Like others here, Loxley has some big-name fans. Photographer Trevor Yerbury tells us that: "There are few labs that can match the quality of print output that Loxley Colour can produce. They help us make money - that is the bottom line."

Top wedding photographer Hamish Scott-Brown adds: "I have always seen Loxley Colour as a partner. My success has been due to the quality of work I get from an outstanding lab."
